TITLE: “The Knock I Didn’t Answer”
SCRIPTURE TEXT:
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in…” — Revelation 3:20

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
It wasn’t that they didn’t love God… they just never opened when He knocked.
MESSAGE:
I wish my brother had listened.
I wish my daughter had picked that call.
I wish my friend didn’t ignore that message.
I wish my husband had paid attention.
I wish my cousin had heeded all the instructions while the opportunity was still there.
But they didn’t answer… and now, it’s too late.
How many more will we bury with the words, “He/she knew the truth, but…”?
He knocked through a parent’s voice -“Children, obey your parents… that it may be well with you” (Ephesians 6:1–3)- but rebellion drowned it.
He knocked through marital instruction -“Husbands, love your wives… Wives, submit as unto the Lord” (Ephesians 5:22–33)- but ego stood at the door.
He knocked through dreams, through sermons, through quiet nudges of the Spirit.
And like those now gone, we said, “Later, Lord.”
But now?
Prison doors have shut behind some.
Sickness has eaten up others.
Opportunities have vanished.
Some lie childless, scarred by choices they once celebrated.
And some… are gone forever.
He didn’t stop loving them. But the door… closed.
What if this is your final knock?
Mercy doesn’t shout-it whispers.
It doesn’t bang-it taps.
And when the knock becomes silence… what will your tears repair?
TAKEAWAY :
The door is still open. But it won’t always be. Cry now, or you’ll cry forever.
CLOSING PRAYER POINTS:
1. Oh Lord! I’ve learned my lesson-don’t let me miss Your knock again! It feels a bit late, but as You helped the prodigal son, help me too. I now see the harshness of life. Please, Lord, don’t let me lose everything. I cry for restoration! Don’t let me die in the silence I created.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!
2. Merciful Father! I humble myself before You. Please reverse every pain my lifestyle has caused-every closed door, every lost opportunity, every shameful consequence. By Your mercy, rewrite my story. Let my child… my future… not suffer because of my past.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!
3. Lord Jesus! I open now-fully, completely, trembling! Enter my broken heart before the door shuts and my name becomes “almost saved” like what happened to my friend, my brother, my sister… Lord, let me not be next!
In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen!
