‘I started hearing strange noise; when they opened the door, we saw a lady in a pool of blood’ – Eyewitness, Adio
A man identified as Amos Daniel has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, at a hotel in the Ayobo area of Lagos State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday night after Daniel checked into the hotel with two male friends at around 5 p.m. A female later joined them. By 10 p.m., strange noises from their room raised suspicion among other guests and hotel staff.
Speaking to PUNCH Metro, a guest identified as Adio said, “I started hearing strange noises from the room beside mine. The hotel security knocked, but no one answered. They opened the door with a spare key and found a lady lying in a pool of blood.”
The hotel staff raised an alarm, prompting a frantic search for the three men. Two had already fled, but Daniel was caught trying to escape through the hotel gate. He was reportedly beaten by bystanders and allegedly confessed that the murder was part of a ritual plot involving his two fleeing accomplices.
The deceased, identified as Endurance, was a native of Akwa Ibom State.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said the hotel manager reported the case at Ayobo Police Station on Friday. He stated that the victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the stomach, head, and ribs. A dagger suspected to be the murder weapon was recovered from Daniel.
Additional items recovered from Daniel’s premises include an axe, machete, jack knives, scissors, and other suspicious objects. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for further investigation.
