…Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai, Amaechi, others to grace official opening
A coalition of opposition political parties has secured a befitting office accommodation in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State with a vow to unseat the current governor of the state, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday, Thursday at the office strategically located on Akwa Efak, off Udoudoma Avenue and Nsikak Eduok Avenue, the leader of the Coalition, Obong (Dr) Uduak Udoh stressed that the building was to serve as a rallying point for all like-minded opposition political parties in the state.
Dr. Uduak, who was the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Akwa Ibom State, noted that with the current hardship in the land, the people were yearning for a real and positive change.
“To the glory of God and for service to the people of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria, this edifice would serve as a rallying point for all like-minded opposition political parties in the state”, Obong Udoh declared, hinting that he’s been receiving officials and members of many political parties into the coalition.
He continued: “With this alarming rate of hardship, the Coalition is not only coming to win elections, we have presented ourselves as a credible alternative for Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians.
“We have seen what’s going on in this state. The government media handlers are shouting about developments. But you the independent media professionals should carry out investigation to unravel the reality on ground.
They make noise about empowerments; to whom, how much? Are we feeling the impact of such empowerments and developments? Where are they? These are the questions you journalists should work on. But anyways, when the time is ripe, we shall unveil the truth to the downtrodden Akwa Ibom masses”.
On the significance of the edifice, Obong Uduak said: “The successful acquisition of this edifice is a clear testimony that anytime Nigerians are tired of excruciating pains, they would always come together to demand a change. And, that change is here.
So far, I have been receiving high profile officials, stakeholders and members of other political parties, including members of the ruling party in the state. I can tell you for free that people are not happy and they are ready to spring surprises.
What you see here is not just an office building. As I said earlier, it’s going to serve as a rallying point. Already, the legacy parties that form this coalition have their offices here.
Very soon, our national leaders like His Excellency, former governor of Kaduna State; Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Rivers State; His Excellency, Rt Honourable Rotimi Amaechi, former Vice President; His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party; His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, former Senate President and ADC National Chairman; Distinguished Sen David Mark, National Secretary of APC and former governor of Osun state; His Excellency, Rauf Aregbesola, and a host of others would be here for official opening.
We are here to take over the governance of Akwa Ibom State and to also work for the change at the national in order to give the people the kind of leadership they deserve. We cannot continue to suffer in the midst of abundance. Come 2027, Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians shall decide on the kind of leaderships they desire”.
