By our correspondent
Obong (Dr) Uduakobong Udoh has stated that for the mission to rescue Akwa Ibom State from the shackles of misgovernment to be accomplished, more human resources must be made available for the opposition coalition in the state.
Obong Uduakobong who is the leader of Opposition Coalition in Akwa Ibom State, dropped the assertion yesterday when the executive members of a socio-political organization known as Akwa Ibom Unity Movement (AkUM) paid him a solidarity visit at the Coalition Headquarters, Akwa Efak, off Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo.
Describing the group as the “provision for this mission”, Obong Udoh who was the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Akwa Ibom State, stressed that no power could stop a movement aiming to rescue generations unborn.
“When I see groups of young men and women like yours coming to identify with the coalition, I see hope; I see a possibility of a better future of our dear Akwa Ibom State and country, Nigeria”, Obong Uduakobong Udoh said, expressing his conviction that come 2027, the yearnings and aspirations of the people would prevail.
He continued “Whenever God sends His people on a mission, he would always make provisions for the mission to be accomplished. Looking at your faces and listening to what you have said here, I can confidently say that you are one of the provisions for this mission to rescue our state and country.
“We had the opportunity of electing people-oriented leaders in 2023. But that opportunity was manipulated by a section of cabals and the result is what we are facing today. But thankfully, we have another opportunity come 2027 which is golden, given what we have experienced so far.
The opposition coalition is available here as a vehicle to drive the process of electing real leaders. We need human resources like you to join in driving the process…I welcome you all on board and I believe seriously, that this coalition vehicle would drive everyone to the desired destination”.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the delegation, the President of AkUM, Comrade Ubong Asuquo Samson commended the Leader of Opposition Coalition in the state, Obong Uduakobong Udoh for providing effective leadership, pledging unalloyed support.
He said “You are a known name as far as politics in Akwa Ibom State is concerned. Our group supported your governorship ambition in 2023 because we believed you have the capacity to give to the State the purposeful leadership we all yearn for.
“This is just the executive of our association. We are here today to renew our solidarity with you, Sir. We have all seen what’s going on in the state in the name of leadership. Everyone is suffering because of bad governance. Come 2027, wherever you shall go, there shall we all go”.
