Breaking! PDP loses Senator to APC, two govs to join next week

The Senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial District, Sen. Sama’ila Dahuwa has defected from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Sen Dahuwa, wile announcing his defection from his former party stated that the internal divisions within the PDP were hindering his capacity to deliver effectively as a Senator, prompting his resignation.

In the same vein, two governors elected on the PDP platform are set to defect to the APC.

The opposition governors are Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that while Mbah has reportedly gotten the support of PDP stakeholders in Enugu to defect, Gov Diri is seriously being opposed by many members of the National Assembly from the state.

Ahead of the defections billed tentatively for Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the National Working Committee, NWC, of the ruling APC, on Thursday, announced the dissolution of the Enugu State Working Committee, SWC, of the APC and set up a caretaker committee.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claiming that those still remaining in the opposition party are “just waiting to bury what’s left of it.”

According to Seye Oladejo, the APC’s Publicity Secretary in Lagos, a new wave of defections from PDP to APC shows that “many party loyalists have lost faith in a system that refuses to change.”

Oladejo noted that these defections are not just ordinary political moves but the result of years of poor leadership, internal crises, and lack of clear direction within the PDP. He added that “those still holding on are simply performing the final rites of a once-powerful party.”

He further claimed that the defections reflect growing trust in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging the opposition to focus on rebuilding itself rather than living in denial.

Nigerians are choosing progress over propaganda,” Oladejo said. “The era of deceitful opposition politics is ending.”
