The refusal of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to heed the advice of Prophet Ekong Ituen on the need to appoint an experienced coach for the Super Eagles has led to the unfortunate failure of the country’s national team to qualify for the FIFA 2026 World Cup.
Ituen, who is the Founder and Spiritual Leader of the Christ Deliverance Ministries, Lagos, had in 2024, called on the NFF to appoint a 43-years-old Nigerian American coach, Michael Nsien to manage the national team which, at that time were struggling to find footing on the World Cup qualifying games.
“His Grace, Prophet Ekong Ituen, has urged the Nigerian Football Federation {NFF} to appoint an experienced coach such as Michael Nsien, a 43-year-old Nigerian- American coach, as revealed in the spiritual realm”, Prophet Ituen had advised in a statement which was released to the media and published on 15th June, 2024.

Shedding more lights as to why Michael Nsien was qualified for the Super Eagles’ coaching job, Prophet Ituen further urged the Nigerian football management authorities to prioritize effectiveness over sentiments, tribalism and politics.
“Nsien is notable for being the first black coach of the American National Team and holds the highest professional coaching licenses {UEFA, USSF}.
He advised the NFF to prioritize effectiveness over sentiments, tribalism, and politics”.
Ituen, an astute lover of football and a prominent Prophet whose prophecies have shaken the high and mighty, was expressing deep concern over what he described as “poor performance of the Super Eagles”.
The Super Eagles were on Sunday, defeated by the Congolese national team through penalties after the first ninety minutes and an additional 30 minutes extra time ended with a one-all draw.
With the defeat, the Super Eagles’ hopes of featuring in the global soccer game that would be organized by the World’s football governing body, FIFA, in 2026 is finally dashed.
