Why we’re engaging indigenous contractors – Gov Umo Eno

…to commission equipment leasing company February 27

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has said his administration is deliberately using indigenous contractors, in order to create more jobs and empower young entrepreneurs, with the aim of boosting economic growth and prosperity in the state.

The Governor stated this during inspection visits to different project sites on arrival from an official engagement outside the State.

He commended the indigenous contractors for their spirit of industry and excellence as evident in their timely and quality delivery, which he said is typical of all hardworking Akwa Ibomites.

Fielding questions from Government House Correspondents at the Equipment Leasing Company located at Ekpri Nsukara Offot, where he visited after the Aviation Village and Dakkada Luxury Estate, the Governor expressed delight at their commitment, and urged other youths to emulate them and take advantage of the numerous opportunities available through ongoing projects across the State.

He particularly thanked the Managing Director of HANSIE Building Services Limited, Engr. Alorye Ewa, for the speedy, exceptional and quality job delivery of the equipment leasing facility.

“You see me smiling. This is a good work. You were there at the Aviation village and you saw it. All the contractors are our young people.I have the opportunity of talking to them. They are 48 contractors on the Aviation Village site, they are doing well, and of course, they are millionaires.

“Then we came here, we are commissioning this on the 27th of February, we have just taken a date. And you have seen the work here.

“I am so proud of what this young female Engineer has done. She has done very well, and I am told by Hensek that this is the best concrete road in this State,” he declared.

Governor Eno reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, in line with the human capital development vision of the ARISE Agenda, and charged youths to rise and take up challenges by joining hands to build a greater Akwa Ibom and provide jobs for other youths.

“For me, my job is to encourage our young people. I am only praying that they don’t fail themselves. I am so proud of what we’re doing, you can see the number of young people she has employed. See them well kitted and I have seen other female Engineers here. She is also raising another generation, and this is the joy that I have.

“That is how you spread wealth, that is how you spread growth. This lady works, she takes control of her life and destiny. This is who we are as Akwa Ibomites,” he declared.

The Governor was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr Aniefiok Johnson; members of the State Executive Council, and Delivery Advisors among others.
