Prophet Ituen To Gov Makinde: You will never be Nigeria’s President
Founder and Spiritual Leader of Christ Deliverance Ministries, CDM, Lagos, Prophet Ekong Ituen has declared that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde will not become Nigeria’s president, saying there is “no reflection spiritually” of such an outcome.
In a press statement released Saturday and made available to journalists, the Lagos-based prophet dismissed speculation around Makinde’s 2027 ambitions and urged the governor to stop “deceiving yourself.”
“Stop deceiving yourself, you are only expressing what is bothering you. You won’t be the President of Nigeria. From all indications spiritually, there is no reflection that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, will ever win presidential election in Nigeria,” Prophet Ekong Ituen said in the statement dated May 31, 2026.
“No Reflection” of Presidential Victory for Makinde
Governor Makinde, 57, is serving his second and final term as Oyo State governor. Since 2023, his name has repeatedly surfaced in political circles as a potential contender for the presidency in 2027, with supporters citing his infrastructure drive in Ibadan and his role in PDP internal reforms.
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Ituen released a series of prophetic messages warning that “money will not be the only decider” of presidential outcomes and urging Nigerians to “watch the North-Central closely.”
University of Ibadan religion scholar Dr. Tunde Alao notes that prophecies serve multiple functions beyond prediction.
“For many Nigerians, prophecy is pastoral, not just predictive. It offers reassurance, warns against perceived danger, and frames politics in moral terms,” he said in 2025 research on religion and elections.
Our paper gathered that Prophet Ekong Ituen has made numerous prophetic declarations in the past that became fulfilled, most of which were published in the media.
“Dr Kayode Fayemi of APC will win the July 14, 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State. I therefore urge the incumbent governor, Ayo Fayose to write his hand-over note in preparation to hand over to Fayemi as his successor”, Prophet Ekong Ituen had prophesied and was published on page 15 of the DailyTimes newspaper of July 7, 2018.
“The incumbent governors of Imo and Ogun State, Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun will experience political humiliation that will make them irrelevant in their respective states after 2019 election”, another of Prophet Ituen’s past prophecy which was published in Daily Sun – 22/12/2018 page 42, Vanguard -28/12/2018 page 25, Telegraph, 29/12/2018 page 43 and The Nation – 6/1/2019 page 13.
On the 2019 election in Ebonyi and Cross River states, Ituen had declared “David Umahi of PDP in Ebonyi State, Ben Ayade of PDP in Cross River State will win 2019 Governorship Elections in their respective States”. This was published in Nigerian news platforms including Daily Sun – 22/12/2018 on page 42, Vanguard – 28/12/2018 on page 25, Telegraph 29/12/2018 on page 43 and The Nation – 6/1/2019 on page 13.
It would also be recalled that in the buildup to the 2015 presidential election, Prophet Ituen had revealed that: “President Jonathan will not win 2015 Presidential election because I have seen the flag falling from his hands, which signifies defeat.
He will beg Obasanjo for reconciliation but Obasanjo will be adamant. He should be careful with some Northern governors as they will not be there for him when he will need them most”, published on page 54 of the Daily Sun newspaper of 20th January, 2014.
