Just-In! Akwa Ibom Labour Party speaks on report of ‘two’ Guber candidates

PRESS RELEASE

Re: ‘Labour Party Grapples with two guber candidates in Akwa Ibom’: A Rejoinder

The attention of the leadership of Labour Party (LP) in Akwa Ibom State has been drawn to a misleading report by Daily Post Nigeria , authored by one Lovina Anthony in which the reporter erroneously presented our great Party as grappling with issues of two Gubernatorial candidates ahead of the 2027 governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State.

While the Labour Party would have elected to ignore the usual sponsored fake report knowing full well its origin, it will be of great benefit to put the records straight in order not to allow our silence hurt the unsuspecting populace.

In view of the aforesaid, the leadership of the Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State wishes to state and declare as follows:

1. There were no two cleared Labour Party governorship aspirants in Akwa Ibom State. The said Emmanuel Friday Ben could not survive the screening at the National Screening Committee which sat at the Abuja Headquarters of our great Party. Up until today, the said Emmanuel Friday Ben has not disclosed to his sponsor the myriads of obvious reasons he failed the screening.

2. Mr. Lincoln Charles is not the State Chairman of the Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State. As at April, 2026 when the Labour Party conducted its State Congresses across Nigeria (Akwa Ibom State inclusive), Mr. Lincoln Charles was under suspension which was only lifted on compassionate grounds during the National Convention of the Party held at Umuahia, Abia State on 28th April, 2026.

However, he has the freedom to continue fooling and extorting the gullible and undiscerning who have ‘… refused to pay to God, hence, must pay to the devil ‘

3. The State Chairman of the Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State is Mrs. Freena Akpanusong and her office is currently at #40 Akwa Efak, off Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo, where Lovina Anthony or any other journalist could always contact for rightful information rather than hiding under ‘balancing’ to promote barefaced illegalities.

4. The legitimately recognized Labour Party governorship primary election was conducted on 30th May, 2026, at the State Secretariat of the Party, #40 Akwa Efak, off Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo, by the recognized National Electoral Committee for Akwa Ibom State headed by Dr. Kingsley Okundaye and was duly supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

It would be instructive to inform Lovina Anthony and her Daily Post Nigeria that the very National Chairman of the Labour Party; Distinguished Sen. Nenadi Usman, Ph.D, who chaired the Party’s National Screening Committee that screened Mr. Emmanuel Friday Ben, is the same National Chairman who constituted the National Electoral Committee headed by Dr Kingsley Okundaye that conducted Primary Elections in Akwa Ibom State.

Moreover, after the meeting on Thursday, 11th June, 2026, of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Labour Party, Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians will know formally all the legitimate candidates of the Party.

5. But, in the meantime, the duly elected Labour Party Gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State is Akparawa Michael Bush. He is the one Akwa Ibom people will vote for, being the only baggage-free, credible and INDEPENDENT ALTERNATIVE who shall deliver the state from the current shackles of mis-governance and leadership deficit.

Akwa Ibom people are hereby urged to discard the Daily Post Nigeria’s misleading report or any similar reports and continue to accord the Labour Party the overwhelming support it currently enjoys. No amount of sponsored distraction can derail our focus or stop the collective will of the people!
