August 15: Prophet Ituen warns against interference in Osun Governorship poll

…urges President Tinubu to ensure peace

A prominent clergyman, Prophet Ekong Ituen, has called on political actors in Osun State to refrain from manipulating the forthcoming gubernatorial election, warning that desperation to win power could plunge the state into chaos.

In a statement released on August 7, 2026, and made available to journalists, Prophet Ituen who’s the Founder and Spiritual Leader of Christ Deliverance Ministries, CDM, Lagos, said he received a revelation about the build-up to the election and expressed concern over what he described as plans for “massive rigging.”

“Don’t interfere with Osun State election, allow the will of God to prevail, to avoid chaos,” Prophet Ituen warned in the statement.

Revealing further, the Prophet said: “In my revelation, I am not comfortable with the build-up towards the forth coming gubernatorial election in the State, as there will be massive rigging, BVAS will not even be the solution.”

He urged politicians and their supporters not to “overheat the polity on account of their desperation to get elected,” stressing that political power ultimately comes from God.

“They must realise that whatsoever anyone becomes in life is exclusively in the hands of God as God gives power to whoever He pleases,” he added.

The cleric specifically addressed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking him not to interfere in the process but to prioritize stability in the South-west state.

“I urge President Tinubu not to interfere, but ensure that peace reigns before, during and after the election,” Prophet Ituen stated.

The warning comes few days to the Osun governorship election slated for August 15.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, will be deployed to accredit voters and upload results from polling units, a technology introduced to curb electoral fraud.

Prophet Ituen, who is known for making prophetic declarations on national and international issues, also referenced what he called previously fulfilled prophecies to buttress his credibility.

Citing a 2018 prophecy published in Daily Times on September 15, 2018 on Page 18, he had said: “The people of Osun State in South-west Nigeria will witness a tough governorship Election in September 2018, but it is certain as reflected in the Spiritual realm that Mr Gboyega Oyetola of All Progressives Congress {APC} will win the Election.”

In another instance ahead of the Ekiti governorship poll, Daily Times of July 7, 2018 on Page 15 quoted him as saying: “Dr Kayode Fayemi of APC will win the July 14, 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State. I therefore urge the incumbent governor, Ayo Fayose to write his hand-over note in preparation to hand over to Fayemi as his successor.”

Osun elections have historically been competitive, often drawing national attention due to the state’s swing-vote reputation in South-west politics.

INEC officials in the state have declined to comment on the specific allegation of planned rigging, but reiterated their commitment to a free, fair and credible poll.

With tensions already building among party faithful, Prophet Ituen’s message adds to growing calls for calm as Osun prepares for another decisive ballot. Community leaders in the state have in recent weeks urged candidates to sign peace accords and to discourage vote buying and violence.
