In line with the directive of His Excellency, Gov Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom State, a frontline politician cum philanthropist, Mr. Imo Anthony Edung has revalidated his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a promise to help build the party to an enviable height.

 

On hand to witness Imoh’s membership revalidation were his father, Mr. Anthony Edung, the Honourable Councillor representing Ubium South Ward 1, Ward Chairman and his executives, party leaders, stakeholders, women and youth leaders as well as a huge crowd of party supporters in the Ward.

Speaking while performing his membership revalidation yesterday, Wednesday, 6th August, 2025, at Ikot Uboh, Ubium South Ward 1 in Nsit Ubium local government area, Mr. Imo stressed that he wasn’t in the party to fight anyone but to use his political connections and resources to further build and strengthen the APC in the area.

Imo, who is a former Special Assistant to the immediate-past governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Sen Ben Ayade on Local Content, also used the occasion to call on Akwa Ibomites to continue according Gov Umo Eno all the necessary support to enable him succeed, describing the governor as a worthy son of Nsit Ubium.

He said “Let me first of all thank our party leaders and everyone for turning out to witness this event today despite a very short notice. You all know that I am already an APC member. My coming today is in obedience to the governor’s directive on APC membership revalidation exercise across the state.

I’m not coming here to fight against the party structure or anyone. My membership revalidation today is a renewal of my commitment to help build the APC here in Ubium South Ward 1 in particular, and the entire Nsit Ubium local government area in general.

Let me also, most importantly, appeal to everyone here to support our dear governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, not just because he is from Nsit Ubium, but because he has performed excellently well just within two years in office. Let us also support His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to continue his transformational leadership in Nigeria”.

The former governor’s aide donated a fat sum of money to the Ward Executives, elders, women, youths and the entire supporters of the party. His financial donation was supported by the Councillor, Hon. Peter Ime Peter.

Handing over the APC membership card to Imo Anthony, the Ward Chairman, Mr Jimmy thanked him for his exceptional love for the party in the area and urged other well-placed individuals to emulate him in order to help reposition the APC for victories in subsequent elections.

In their seperate goodwill messages, stakeholders of the party took turns to shower blessings, corroborating that the occasion had revitalized the party in the Ward.

According to Obong Inyang Eno: “I want to thank you immensely for the love of this party which you have openly expressed today. This is how it should be. This is how political parties are built. God will continue to bless and uplift you so that you will continue to be a blessing to others”.

On his part, Dr Chris Enoch said: “This is the first time we have seen this in this Ward. And, I want to call on other politicians, especially, the political appointees to emulate what Imo Anthony has done today. I call him ‘The Silent Achiever’. He is not new in our party.

Let me also use this opportunity, on behalf of everyone here, to pass a Vote of Confidence in Their Excellencies, Governor Umo Eno, the Senate President; Distinguished Sen Godswill Obot Akpabio and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They have done tremendously well and we hereby declare our unalloyed support for them to be returned unopposed, come 2027”.

Others who spoke glowingly during the event included Obong Ime Gamble, Hon Essien Essien George, Obong Elder Bassey Ekanem Umoh, Obong Barrister Udofia, amongst others.
