Breaking! F/Ball: Another CAF echelon member resigns amidst deep crisis

Another senior member of the Confederation of African Footbal, CAF, has resigned from her position.

Prior to her resignation, Sarah Makuna was CAF Director of Member Associations.

Her resignation comes just days after the resignation of the CAF Secretary-General, signaling growing instability within the organization.

The pressure is mounting on Patrice Motsepe and his leadership team, as tensions continue to rise within Confederation of African Football.

Recall that CAF recently appointed Sampson Adamu appointed as acting General Secretary. Sampson from Nigeria, took over the role on March 29, 2026, after Veron Mosengo-Omba resigned.

Mosengo-Omba, who is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, had served as General Secretary since March 2021.

The new CAF Secretary-General Adamu, who previously served as CAF’s Director of Competitions, is expected to continue steering the organization effectively. He’s a seasoned football administrator with experience managing logistics and overseeing major continental competitions.

As at the time of this report, there’s a crisis brewing in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the controversy surrounding the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final. The CAF Appeals Board stripped Senegal of their title and awarded it to Morocco, sparking outrage and accusations of corruption.

The controversy stemmed from a protest by Senegal’s team during the final match, which arose from a disputed penalty that was awarded to Morocco.

Senegal’s government has called for an international investigation into alleged corruption within CAF, and the country’s football federation has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

CAF President Patrice Motsepe has announced plans to implement changes to the organization’s statutes and regulations to restore trust and confidence in its referees, VAR operators, and judicial bodies.
