Commendations, as Etinan Council hands over Primary Health Centre to community

The Etinan Local Government Council has renovated and handed over the Ndon Utim Primary Health Centre to the community in Urban Ward 2. The ceremony was attended by council officials, community leaders, and residents, who expressed gratitude to Hon. Uko Umoh, Chairman of Etinan Council, for the much-needed renovation.

The Village Head of Ndon Utim, Eteidung Joshua Fred Otong, thanked Hon. Umoh for “wiping away our tears” and pledged support for the chairman’s initiatives. “Thank you, Mr. Chairman, thank you for wiping away our tears in Ndon Utim. During your days as Transition Committee Chairman, you renovated our water system. We will support you and every other person you bring to us in 2027,” he declared.

Speaking separately at the event, the Woman Leader of Ndon Utim, Mrs. Etim Emmanson, Mr. Elijah Thompson, Supervisor for Agriculture, and Mrs. Diana Mbat, Councilor representing Urban Ward 2, also thanked the chairman for making the health centre conducive for healthcare services.

In his remarks, Hon. Emmanuel Sampson, Supervisor for Health, said the renovation aims to bring healthcare delivery closer to the people, reduce maternal and child mortality, strengthen routine immunization, and provide timely treatment for common illnesses. “The renovation of this health facility reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to our people right here in their communities,” he stated.

Ekereobong Daniel Ikobo, who spoke on behalf of the health centre’s management and staff, thanked the chairman for the timely intervention and requested the installation of solar lights to preserve vaccines, re-wiring of the centre, connection of water, and a perimeter fence to secure the facility.

In his response, the Executive chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Hon. Uko Umoh, accompanied by his wife, Emily, thanked the people of Ndon Utim for welcoming development and his entourage. He called on them to take ownership of the facility and protect it for the benefit of all community members. The chairman also encouraged the people to participate in the ongoing INEC Continuous Voter Registration exercise and state government portals to access benefits.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice Chairman of Council, Leader of the Legislative Council, Secretary of Council, Councilors, Supervisors, Head of Local Government Service for Etinan, Directors, and staff of the Council.
