…as top Boko Haram Commander killed in Borno night raid
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded another major breakthrough with the elimination of Abu Khalid, identified as the second-in-command of Boko Haram in the Sambisa Forest. Also killed were ten other terrorists during a night operation in Konduga local government area of Borno State.
This comes barely 24 hours after the killing of another notorious commander, Julaibib, in the Timbuktu Triangle ā a clear indication that the Nigerian troops are sustaining the gains which began shortly after the emergence of Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd.) as Honourable Minister of Defense.
The troops who are working in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), also recovered AK-47 rifles, ammunition, logistics, food items, and medical supplies.
As at the time of this report, no casualty was recorded among the Nigerian troops.
Meanwhile, clearance operations are ongoing across Sambisa Forest, Mandara Mountains, and other terrorist hideouts as the military sustains pressure to restore lasting peace in the North East.
It would be recalled that on the heels of his swearing in as Defense Minister, Gen Christopher Musa had assured Nigerians that the issue of terrorism, Boko Haram, banditry and all other forms of insurgency would soon be a thing of the past.
With the recent take over by the Nigerian military of the dreaded Sambisa forest which hitherto was the major hideouts of terrorists, pundits believe that the end of terrorism in the country is near.
