Just-In! Presidency reacts to ‘AI photo’ with Rwandan President

…blames writer, editor

By Sanni Abdullahi

The Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Presidency has reacted to the viral narrative on the social media to the effect that the photograph with Rwandan President being circulated is AI generated, describing it as incorrect.

In a ‘Stop Press’ statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi and shared by Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency insisted that the photograph of the two African leaders having lunch in Paris was real.

“The narrative that the picture of Presidents Bola Tinubu and Paul Kagame taken in Paris yesterday was AI generated is not correct”, the statement notes, adding that the photograph was taken with a phone but edited with grok for a better quality.

The statement continues “The media report and social media comments that followed are misrepresentation of facts. The picture is real and not AI generated as claimed.

Both President Kagame and President Tinubu met in Paris had lunch together on Sunday (yesterday)”.

The Presidency blamed the “writer or editor” for not asking questions before arriving at, according to statement, “wrong conclusion”.

“The two leaders later had dinner with President Macron same yesterday evening. The picture was taken with a phone and obviously had poor quality.

The photographer only later used grok to improve the picture quality. That is not a reason to conclude it was AI generated. The writer or editor should have asked questions before this wrong conclusion”
