…charges Kwarans to unite ahead 2027
PUG CONDOLES AND STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH YEYE OGE FROM OKE-ODE, KWARA SOUTH, WHO IS AN ARDENT SUPPORTER OF OTOGE GOVERNMENT
The PDP Unifier Group (PUG) extends our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Yeye Oge from Oke-Ode, Kwara South, over the brutal and senseless murder of her beloved husband, his friend, and his brother by bandits. We share in your profound grief during this darkest hour and stand in solidarity with you and your family. No words can adequately capture the depth of pain that accompanies such an irreparable loss, particularly one so violent and preventable. Your husband was not just a family man but a pillar in the community, and his tragic death represents a monumental failure of the primary responsibility of government—the protection of lives and property. May the Almighty Allah grant you and your family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss, and may the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.
It is particularly heart-wrenching that Yeye Oge, who was among the most passionate and committed advocates of the Otoge movement in 2019, believing in the promise of change and better governance, now finds herself a victim of the very government she worked tirelessly to bring to power. The irony is as bitter as it is tragic. When she and countless others in Kwara South and across our dear state championed the Otoge cause, they did so with genuine hope that the incoming administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq would prioritize the security and welfare of Kwarans. Instead, what we have witnessed is a systemic failure characterized by administrative lethargy, insensitivity to the plight of ordinary citizens, and a disturbing pattern of inadequate response to the escalating security challenges that have turned our communities into hunting grounds for criminals and bandits.
The gruesome murder of Yeye Oge’s husband and his companions is not an isolated incident but a damning testament to the abysmal security architecture under the current APC administration in Kwara State. Under Governor Abdulrazaq’s watch, banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes have flourished with alarming impunity, while the government has remained conspicuously inactive, offering little more than platitudes and empty assurances. The blood of innocent Kwarans continues to flow while the government that swore to protect them remains detached from their suffering. Rural communities like Oke-Ode have been particularly abandoned, left to the mercy of marauding criminals without adequate security presence or rapid response mechanisms. This is not the change that was promised; this is not the Kwara we were told to expect. Instead, the Otoge government has proven to be long on propaganda but tragically short on performance, especially regarding the sacred duty of protecting citizens’ lives.
We call on all well-meaning Kwarans, irrespective of political affiliation, to take note of this catastrophic leadership failure and hold the current administration accountable. The grassroots supporters who believed in Otoge, who mobilized their communities and invested their hope in promised change, have been rewarded with neglect, insecurity, and tears. From Kwara South to Kwara North, from Kwara Central to every corner of our beloved state, ordinary citizens continue to live in fear, uncertain whether they will return home safely to their families each day. We must collectively refuse to normalize this unacceptable state of affairs. A government that cannot guarantee the fundamental right to life and security has forfeited its moral authority to lead, and no amount of media propaganda or infrastructural window-dressing can compensate for the blood of innocent citizens or the tears of widows and orphans.
Therefore, the PDP Unifier Group (PUG) calls on all Kwarans to speak loudly and clearly with their votes in the 2027 general elections. We must reject this present APC government that has consistently demonstrated its inability and unwillingness to protect the lives and properties of those who entrusted it with power. The time has come for genuine change—not the hollow slogans and empty promises of 2019, but a real commitment to security, good governance, and the welfare of all Kwarans. As we mourn with Yeye Oge and all families who have suffered similar tragedies under this administration, let us resolve that their pain will not be in vain. Let us channel our collective grief into decisive action at the polls, ensuring that come 2027, we install a government that truly values Kwara lives and will work tirelessly to protect them. To Yeye Oge, we say: your loss is our loss, your pain is our pain, and your fight for justice is our collective fight. May God comfort you and grant eternal rest to your departed loved ones.
