His Excellency, Ambassador (Prof) David David, Director-General of the Nigerian Books of Records, writes:
Today, Nigerian Books of Record proudly celebrates a monumental milestone—the 82nd birthday of Oba Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR, Okukenu IV, a revered monarch and cultural icon of Abeokuta, immortalized for his profound impact on nation-building and cultural heritage.
Born on September 14, 1943, in Ake, Abeokuta, into the distinguished Gbadebo family of the Okukenu Laarun Ruling House, Oba Gbadebo’s legacy shines as a testament to leadership, education, and tradition. A graduate of the University of Ibadan with a B.A. Hons. in 1969, he served with distinction in the Nigerian Army, rising to Principal Staff Officer, and earned accolades including the National Service Medal and Forces Service Star.
His reign as Alake of Egbaland, coupled with his marriage to Olori Dr. (Mrs.) T. Gbadebo and their family legacy, reflects his commitment to cultural preservation and community development. His 2024 induction into the NBR Hall of Fame honors his enduring contributions.
At Nigerian Books of Record, we proudly reaffirm that Oba Adedotun Gbadebo was inducted into the NBR Hall of Fame in December 2024, a tribute to his legacy in nation-building and cultural leadership.
Nigerian Books of Record is dedicated to preserving the stories of Nigeria’s heroes, and Oba Gbadebo’s life of service and heritage embodies our mission. His reign continues to inspire progress and unity.
Happy 82nd Birthday, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo CFR! Congratulations on your well-deserved honors! May your legacy endure for generations.
