10 former LG Chairmen, Ex-APC boss, others defect to ADC in Enugu

A major political realignment has occurred in Enugu State, southeastern Nigeria, as a former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. A.C. Udeh, former APC Woman Leader, Lolo Nwankwo, as well as over 10 former Local Government Chairmen defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Also joining the ADC were stalwarts of the nationally ruling APC

A press statement endorsed by the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC National Media Frontiers, Hon. Muhammed MJG GKAF revealed that many stalwarts of the nationally ruling APC also joined the party.

According to the statement, the defectors were formally received into the ADC during the Enugu State Stakeholders’ meeting held in the week at the party’s State Secretariat in Enugu, the state capital.

The statement further noted that their defection comes barely a week after Governor Peter Mbah crossed over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, a move that reportedly triggered intense internal crises and factional battles within the state APC.

It was gathered that the deepening divisions, fueled by the struggles for party control, prompted several leaders to abandon the party, thereby embracing the ADC.

In their joint remarks, the new ADC members were quoted to have pledged their total loyalty and commitment to the growth of the party in Enugu State. They also vowed to mobilize massive grassroots support across their respective local government areas, promising to reposition ADC as a unifying force for credible leadership and inclusive governance in the state.
