Onofiok bows out, as Uniuyo Alumni gets new Exco

Comrade Ekerette Adiaiduo has been elected as the new President of the University of Uyo Alumni Association, succeeding a former speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Onofiok Luke.
In a keenly contested election held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the University of Uyo permanent site, Comrade Adiaiduo polled a total of 589 votes to defeat his closest rival, Prof Aniekan Brown, who scored 481.

. Oto-Obong Billy — Assist Publicity Secretary
. Eka Ukpe — Treasurer
. Nsikak Tom —- Financial Secretary
. Akanimo Udom — Director of Organization
. Mbet Okpongette — Legal Adviser
. Samuel Etuk — Assistsnt Legal Adviser
. Ita Ekpenyong — Auditor
In his acceptance speech shortly after a brief swearing in ceremony, the new Uniuyo Alumni President on behalf of his executives, thanked his colleagues for finding him worthy to oversee the affairs of the organization in the next five years.
He promised to take the body to an enviable height by ensuring the fulfilment of all his campaign promises in order to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Earlier in his valedictory speech, the outgoing President Luke commended the association’s electoral umpire for helping him fulfil one of his cardinal targets of conducting a credible election yet, the most popular in the history of the association.
While highlighting some of the achievements of his outgoing administration, Luke, who is also the immediate-past member representing Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, congratulated his successor and wished him and members of his cabinet a successful tenure.
