National Open University holds maiden Health Week in Uyo

The Faculty of Health Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, Uyo Study Centre is set to hold a 3-day maiden Health Week beginning from Monday, 1st to Wednesday 3rd September, 2025.

A circular released by the Planning Committee which invites the general public to participate, shows that the event has as its theme “Promoting Health Equity Through Community-Based Initiatives: A Focus on The AKSHIA Agenda and The Arise Care Package”.

The highlight for day-1 of the event, according to the circular, shall include carnival float on major streets in Uyo and environmental sanitation at strategic location, slated to begin from 10 am on Monday, 1st September.

Novelty football match amongst sister faculties of the institution is billed for Day-2, being Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 4 pm.

The Grand Finale of the Maiden Health Week at 9 am on Wednesday, September 3, is expected to feature free health sensitization, presentation of awards and lots more.

Our paper also gathered that free healthcare services would be offered to participants during the event.

The Uyo Centre Director of NOUN; Associate Prof. Edwin Bassey, while confirming the event as scheduled in a brief chat with our correspondent, called on the general public to attend, promising that it would be rewarding.
