For referring to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as ‘tyrant’ in his post-airport arrest drama remarks yesterday, internet users have begun digging into His Excellency, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s past as governor of Kaduna State.
According to commentators who described ex governor El-Rufai’s eight years administration in Kaduna with various uncomplimentary adjectives, his recent remarks against President Tinubu could best be termed as ‘pot calling a kettle black’.
In one of such comments, an internet user, Yusuf, said Mallam Nasir El-Rufai shouldn’t feel that the people of Kaduna State in particular and Nigeria in general have forgotten his ‘horrible’ tenure as governor of Kaduna State.
According to Yusuf “I was really shocked to read the remarks attributed to the former Kaduna governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. It is still green in our memories the number of people persecuted under the regime of Governor Nasir El-Rufai in Kaduna State. His horrible tenure as governor”.
A former Senator from Kaduna State, Sen Shehu Sani on his part, listed the identities of Journalists incarcerated during Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s tenure.
“Kaduna based Journalists;Arrested and imprisoned for writing critical stories about the then Kaduna State Governor and his Government.Their names are Luka Biniyat of Vanguard (with crutches in kaduna Prison),Midat Joseph of The Leadership and Jacob Dickson of the Authentic Newspaper.
“Sheikh Bello Yabo; abducted from Sokoto and brought to Kaduna for criticizing the Kaduna State Governor in 2020. You can verify”
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai had, during Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s solidarity visit to him yesterday, described President Tinubu as a ‘tyrant’, vowing to do everything to ensure his removal in 2927.
