UYO — As Akwa Ibom State gears up to host one of the biggest agribusiness gatherings in Nigeria, organizers of the 5th Agribusiness Roundtable International Conference have announced a joint press briefing to provide a comprehensive update on the level of preparedness for the event.

The briefing, scheduled for 2:00 pm tomorrow, Wednesday, October 21, 2026, will be jointly addressed by the Agribusiness Unit, the Nigeria Agribusiness and Agro-Industry Development Initiative, NAADI, and the Central Organizing Committee of Uyo 2026 at the AKADEP facility.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday in Uyo, the briefing will offer detailed insights into preparations for the international conference, which will hold from October 25 to 28, 2026, at Watbridge Hotels and Suites, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The organizers said the press conference will outline progress made across key areas, including programme planning, stakeholder participation, protocol, exhibitions, communications, and other logistics, as well as the final steps being taken to ensure a successful and impactful conference.

The 5th Agribusiness Roundtable International Conference, with the theme “Accelerating Agribusiness Transformation: Unlocking Value Chains to Achieve Food Security, Nutrition Sustainability, Job Creation, Poverty Alleviation, and National Prosperity,” is expected to bring together policymakers, agribusiness investors, farmers, researchers, development partners, youth and women in agribusiness, and international delegates.

The international conference comes at a time when Nigeria is intensifying efforts to diversify its economy, strengthen food security, and unlock the huge potential in agricultural value chains. Agribusiness stakeholders say Uyo 2026 will provide a strategic platform for dialogue, partnership building, investment matchmaking, and showcasing innovations that can drive the country’s agribusiness transformation agenda.

The Central Organizing Committee disclosed that extensive work has already been done on the conference programme, which will feature plenary sessions, technical roundtables, exhibition of agricultural products and technologies, business-to-business meetings, and field visits. Delegates from across Nigeria and beyond have confirmed participation, while government agencies, private sector players, and donor organisations are also expected to feature prominently.

Organizers noted that Akwa Ibom was chosen to host the 5th edition because of its growing profile in agriculture, its peaceful environment, and the state government’s commitment to agribusiness development through its Agricultural Revolution initiative.

Members of the media, government representatives, agribusiness stakeholders, development partners, exhibitors, and the general public have been invited to attend the briefing and engage directly with the organizing teams.

The Central Organizing Committee assured that all hands are on deck to deliver a world-class conference that will not only project Akwa Ibom as an agribusiness destination but also contribute meaningfully to national conversations on food security, nutrition sustainability, job creation, poverty alleviation and prosperity.

More details on confirmed speakers, keynote sessions and side events are expected to be unveiled at Wednesday’s briefing.
