*TRANSFORMING NDPHC UNDER THE RENEWED HOPE AGENDA OF PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR*
Since assuming office in August 2024 under the Renewed Hope Agenda, Engr. Jennifer Adighije has repositioned NDPHC as the engine room of Nigeria’s power renaissance:
*1. Restoration of Generation Assets:* Restored six dormant gas turbines across Calabar, Omotosho II, Benin, Alaoji and Ihovbor Power Plants, adding over *750MW* to the nation’s mechanical generation capacity and delivering an additional 230MW from Ihovbor alone to the national grid.
*2. Recovery of National Assets:* Recovered *110 abandoned containers and 216 packages* at Onne Port abandoned for over a decade, containing critical turbine components, saving Nigeria over *N30 Billion*.
*3. Transmission & Distribution Expansion:* NDPHC under her watch has completed *120 transmission projects*, including 60 nos 330kV and 31 nos 132kV substations with 37 expansion works, pushing installed transformer capacity above *10,000MVA*, plus completion of the critical *Afam to Ikot Ekpene 330kV transmission line* and hundreds of distribution projects nationwide.
*4. Financial Recovery & Accountability:* Recovered over *$12 Million* from cross-border bilateral customers in Togo/Benin and over *$10 Million* in insurance claims, while saving millions of dollars through renegotiation of Gas Supply Agreements.
5. Powering Industry & Future Energy: Spearheading the *”Light-Up Nigeria” Initiative – Agbara Cluster*, powering industries and MSMEs, and launching *NDPHC Phase 2* – transitioning to renewable energy with solar, off-grid systems and mini-hydropower to expand access in Northern Nigeria in line with Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan.
*6. Human Capital & Reform:* Conversion of 180 third-party contract staff to full-time staff, digitalization of processes, improved procurement transparency, and restoration of staff morale and operational efficiency.
