Former Super Eagles of Nigeria’s Head Coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed what makes the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 more special than the European Championship.
In a media chat ahead of the Eagles’ semi finals cracker against the Moroccan team, the former senior Nigerian team handler said his former side will defeat the host nation before the 70th minute.
Rohr said, “It’s the passion that makes this competition unique. Everything is amplified: the joy, the sadness. There are more colors, more music, drums in the stadiums. An atmosphere you don’t find in Europe”.
On why the African soccer fiesta is unique, Gernot said “Here, we play for the country, not for lucrative contracts. Some players earn little, but they give everything for their country”.
Baring his mind on the strength of the Super Eagles, the former Coach praised the sterling performances of some specific members of the team, noting that no Moroccan players would stop them.
“For this tournament, Nigeria will Silence Morocco before 70minutes.
Iwobi, Osimhen, Lookman will be hard to stop”.
Nigeria will square it up today with the host nation, Morocco, in the semi finals billed to kick off at 2100 hours to decide who plays the final with the winner between Egypt and Senegal.
