Aftermath of AFCON 2025: NFF speaks on Coach Eric’s future

… Super Eagles’ record under current handler

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Musa Gusau, has revealed that the nation’s football governing body has no intention of changing the current Head Coach of the Senior national team, Mr. Eric Chelle.

The NFF President who stated this while commenting on the outcome of the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, hosted by Morocco, praised the Malian football tactician for his hard work, noting that he has exceeded expectations.

NFF President, Musa Gusau said: “The NFF is proud of the team’s campaign and will continue to do its best to encourage, support and motivate the team as we go forward”.

Mr Gusau maintained that the Super Eagles’ handler has shown enormous capacity and expressed his hope for a brighter future with him.

“As the head of a hard-working technical crew, Mr. Chelle has done exceedingly well within the one year he has been with us. He has shown enormous capacity and we will continue to work with him.”, the NFF boss added.

It is on record that Eric Chelle coached the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they played 17 matches, winning 13 and drawing 4.

In Morocco, Chelle guided Nigeria to its highest-ever tally of 14 goals in a single AFCON, with the team unbeaten in regulation time in any of its seven matches, and showing class and character in games against fellow continental powerhouses Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt.

Tanzania and Uganda, who will joint-host next year’s AFCON finals alongside Kenya, also got spanked by the Super Eagles.
