The executives of the Youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, comprising the 31 LGA Chapter Youth Leader the Senatorial Youth Leaders as well as the female youth wing, led by the state Youth Leader Dr. Clement Awakessien, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development Dr. Ekerette Ekanem at his office on Monday the 11th of August 2025.
During the visit, a number of issues were discussed extensively, ranging from inclusivity of the Youth wing of the party in the agenda, functions and activities of the ministry and governance, to the issues of the upcoming Youth Confab, was also discussed for inclusion.
Speaking during the courtesy visit, the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. Ekanem Alphonsius, welcomed the delegation on the visit, stressing that it was timely and assured the Youth wing of his support and encouragement.
The Honourable Commissioner stressed that the issues raised during the visit will be addressed and looked into, promising to relate the plights mentioned to the Governor, Pst. Umo. B. Eno, Ph.D.
Describing Pastor Umo Eno as a listening Governor, the Commissioner assured the APC Youths that the issues raised would be looked into, especially that of inclusion of the Youths wing in the governance of Akwa Ibom state.
Earlier in his speech, the state Youth Leader, observed that the compliance level of the Youth in the state, especially those from the PDP extraction, was less than 30%, as such a proactive reform strategy has to be put in place to further the positive achievements and goals of His Excellency the executive Governor, Pst. Umo Bassey Eno Ph.D on the progressive move to the APC.
According to him, this could be achieved through embarking on Local Government form of hall meetings for the Youths across the 31 LGAs in the state to promote unity, understanding and full integration of all in the Arise Agenda of our dear Governor in this regard.
On her part, the Leader of the female wing, led by Mrs. Ifoniteye Afangide stressed on the need to also accommodate the female Youths of the APC in the scheme of things.
