…warns ‘Lagos-based’ sponsor
PRESS RELEASE
APC National Youth Caucus, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Commends Governor Umo Eno and Condemns Defamatory Attacks
For two years now, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno (PhD), has been the subject of widespread commendation for his impressive performance as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State. His proactive leadership and commitment to sustainable development have earned him respect and support across party lines. Notably, the state has continued to enjoy peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence under his administration.
However, the APC National Youth Caucus, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has observed with concern a series of deliberate and mischievous attempts by certain individuals within the PDP to distort this positive narrative. These actions appear to have intensified shortly after Governor Umo Eno publicly expressed his willingness to support the administration and re-election of the performing President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Senate President, Distinguished Senator (Obong) Godswill Akpabio, GCON. The governor also signaled his intention to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming days or weeks.
Most disturbing among these attacks is a baseless and malicious rumor circulating online, falsely implicating Governor Umo Eno in the unfortunate death of his dear wife, Her Excellency, Patience Umo Eno. This accusation is not only false but deeply hurtful and unjustifiable.
Also, two days ago, a faceless group which goes by the name “Akwa Ibom Pdp Lagos” published on its Facebook page a derogatory content ostensibly inciting Akwa Ibom people against the governor to wit:
” If Governor Umo Eno defects from the PDP to the APC he should be treated as persona non grata”.
We wish to state that the ‘Lagos-based’ sponsor of this campaign of calumny against Gov Umo Eno, simply because of his intention to quit the PDP, is well-known and must refrain forthwith.
The APC National Youth Caucus strongly condemns this act of blackmail and character assassination. We urge all well-meaning citizens to reject these defamatory campaigns and allow the governor to continue his good work in peace. We also warn those behind these attacks to desist immediately, as such actions only serve to undermine the peace and progress of our beloved state.
