Breaking! 2027: Uyo Reps aspirant, Ikakke Bassey quits ADC

…states reasons for his resignation

By Ime Silas

One of the strongest contenders for the Uyo/Uruan/Nsit Atai/Ibesikpo Asutan Federal Constituency seat in the Green chamber of the National Assembly in next year’s election; Mr. Ikakke Bassey has resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

In a letter of resignation addressed to the Ward Chairman of his now former (ADC) party dated April 4, a copy of which was obtained by our Correspondent, the national assembly hopeful reiterated his commitment towards making himself available for service to his people, irrespective of political party.

“I write to formally tender my resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), effective immediately”, the letter read.

On the reason for his resignation, the Development expert noted that the lingering crises at the national level of the ADC, coupled with what he termed “… inability of the State (Akwa Ibom) leadership to present a coordinated front…”, amongst reason, expressed his belief in a cohesive platform that would help him prosecute his ambition.

He continued “This decision has not come lightly. However, the lingering crises at the national level of the Party, coupled with the inability of the State leadership to present a coordinated front, and the persistent division in approach to critical issues, have made it increasingly difficult to pursue a united and effective political course. As someone committed to purposeful leadership and structured progress, I believe that a cohesive platform is essential to deliver meaningful representation to our people.

Consequently, I wish to inform my supporters, stakeholders, and the good people of Uyo Federal Constituency that I will be taking my ambition for the House of Representatives in 2027 to another political platform, which will be announced in due course. I urge you all to remain steadfast and resolute. Our journey is far from over, and together, we are certain to attain the Green Chambers in 2027”.

The former ADC chieftain also used the medium to lay bare the cardinal points of his ambition, maintaining that such vision was bigger than any political party.

“Let me reaffirm that my vision remains unchanged and sacrosanct—Human Capacity Development through strategic legislation and effective representation that directly impacts on the provision of jobs, quality education, high-level skills/digital transformation, and enterprise development. This vision is bigger than any platform; it is a commitment to our people and the future we deserve.

I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Party for the opportunity given to me to serve and contribute my quota during my time in the ADC. I remain grateful for the relationships built and the experiences gained. Thank you, and may we continue to strive for a better, more prosperous society”, Mr Ikakke concluded.
