Retired police officers have hit the streets nationwide today, July 21, protesting the harsh realities of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). They say the system leaves them in poverty after years of service. Their demands? Exit CPS, create a dedicated Police Pension Board, and pay up owed arrears.

At the same time, serving officers are boiling. They’re threatening a nationwide strike over poor salaries, zero housing, terrible healthcare, and lack of insurance. An ultimatum to the FG ends August 1. If nothing happens, expect serious tension.

Despite warnings from the Police Service Commission to stand down, the protesters say: “No retreat, no surrender.”

Unconfirmed reports have that the nationwide protest, is being organized and promoted by activist, Publisher and 2023 AAC presidential candidate, Mr. Omoyele Sowore.
