Breaking! UK major arrested in Nigeria for arms running, disowned
The United Kingdom has disowned one Major Micah Polo arrested by the Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with arms smuggling in Nigeria.
Major Micah Polo was intercepted in Lagos while attempting to board a flight to the United Kingdom. His arrest followed a covert operation by the DSS in Asaba, Delta State, where an arms supplier and several associates were apprehended.
During the Asaba operation, the DSS recovered a significant cache of weapons, including over 50 AK-47 rifles, six pump-action shotguns, and more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition.
The British High Commission today, 30th April 2025, has clarified that the individual involved is not a serving member of the UK Armed Forces. While he previously served as a junior rank in the UK Armed Forces Reserves, he has since been discharged and was never a commissioned officer.
