…holds emergency meeting with stakeholders of 36 states
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, last night held a late-night emergency meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders from across the 36 states and the FCT.
Speaking at the meeting, Wike said that the planned PDP national convention will be rendered invalid unless the six demands are met.
According to the FCT Minister, the six-point demands are
“That fresh congresses must be held in Ebonyi and Anambra states, in strict compliance with subsisting court judgments
“That new South East Zonal Congress must be urgently conducted.
“That the outcome of the South South Congress in Calabar, already upheld by the courts, must be respected.
“That the PDP should immediately conduct the Ekiti LGA congresses, in line with judicial pronouncements.
“That there should be no micro-zoning of offices, beyond the general zoning formula already adopted by the National Executive Committee NEC, to maintain peace and stability.
“That the national chairmanship position must remain in the North Central, consistent with the zoning arrangement of the 2021 convention”.
It was learnt that the PDP was planning to hold its national convention ahead of the 2027 general elections, though a date has not been fixed yet.
