…insists Anyanwu remains National Secretary
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike today held an emergency meeting with stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, from across the 36 states and the FCT at his Abuja residence.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Wike maintained that Chief Samuel Anyanwu must continue as the National Secretary of the PDP.
The former Rivers State governor further argued that the Supreme Court had recognized Sam Anyanwu as the authentic National Secretary of the party adding that those determined to remove him from office should wait for the party convention later in the year.
The Minister cited different cases justifying the decision of the National Secretary not to resign despite running for the Imo State governorship seat in 2023.
He argued that the incumbent Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas did not resign as the state party chairman when he ran for the office of the Governor, adding that he only resigned after winning the governorship election.
The Minister insisted that the party must abide by its on constitution as anything short of that will be undermining the sacrifices of the party’s founding fathers.
