Buhari, 1942-2025: He led Nigeria with integrity -Tambuwal

Former Governor of Sokoto state, His Excellency, Rt. Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal wrote:

“Today, our nation bows its head in solemn reflection as we lay to rest one of Nigeria’s most consequential leaders, former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. His passing marks the end of a defining chapter in our national journey, and with it comes a moment for deep introspection on leadership, legacy, and the impermanence of power.

“To stand in Daura, his hometown, is to witness the final homecoming of a man who, regardless of differing views, left no one in doubt about his convictions, his discipline, and his lifelong commitment to Nigeria.

He governed with a firm belief in order, integrity, and national unity. And while history will rightly examine his choices, as it should for all who lead, a grateful nation must also acknowledge his contributions, his sacrifices, and his moments of courage.

“I again extend my heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, to the government and people of Katsina State, the Northern Governors’ Forum, and indeed, to all Nigerians.

Let this passing serve as a reminder to all of us in leadership that power is fleeting, but service endures. What will outlive us is not the positions we hold, but the impact we make — the lives we uplift, the institutions we strengthen, and the values we uphold.

Farewell, President Buhari. May the Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive your shortcomings, accept your return, and grant you Aljannatul Firdaus. -AWT
