CAF 2025: Full list of other winners, as Hakimi emerges Africa’s best 

 

The Moroccan Professional footballer, Achraf Hakimi has been named by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as African Player of the Year.

Hakimi plays as a right-back for Ligue 1 club, Paris Saint-Germain and captains the Morocco national team. He’s widely regarded as one of the best right-backs in the world.

Born on November 4, 1998, in Madrid, Spain, to Moroccan parents, Hakimi joined Real Madrid’s youth setup in 2006. He made his debut for Real Madrid in 2016 and later played for Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan before joining PSG in 2021.

Achraf Hakimi has so far won numerous titles, including the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, and the Coupe de France with PSG. Aside from winning the 2025 African Footballer of the Year, Hakimi is also ranked 6th in the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

African Female Player of the Year: Ghizlane Chebbak 

The Female African Player of the Year, Ghizlane Chebbak is a Moroccan professional footballer who plays as a forward for Saudi Women’s Premier League club, Al Hilal SFC and the Morocco women’s national team.

She has made history by becoming the first Moroccan player and second African player to win the FIFPRO Best XI award in the World.

Chebbak emerged Africa’s female best, beating Nigeria’s Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade. This marks a significant milestone in her career, following her outstanding performances at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where she won the Golden Boot with five goals and also earned a spot in the Team of the Tournament.

Some of her other notable achievements include:
-Golden Boot winner at WAFCON 2024
-Top scorer in the Moroccan Women’s Championship (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2023)
-Player of the Tournament at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations

Chebbak’s consistency and leadership have earned her recognition as one of Africa’s top female footballers.

▫️ Best Female Goalkeeper: Chiamaka Nndozie

Chiamaka Nnadozie is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League and the Nigeria women’s national team, also known as the Super Falcons. She’s widely regarded as the best female goalkeeper in Africa and one of the best in the world.

With Nnadozie’s latest, she has broken the CAF record being the first player to ever win Africa’s best female goalkeeper for three consecutive times, having previously won in 2023 and 2024.

Other achievements include Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Best Goalkeeper in 2024, D1 Arkema Goalkeeper of the Season: 2023-24, IFFHS Africa’s Best Woman Goalkeeper: 2019.

Nnadozie is currently playing for Brighton & Hove Albion, having joined the club in July 2025 from Paris FC, where she won the Coupe de France Féminine.
