…as APC takes over North-central states
President of the Senate, HE, Distinguished Sen Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, has assured the government and people of Plateau State that the issue of insecurity would soon be a thing of the past.
The Senate President who stated this in a statement welcoming the Plateau State governor, His Excellency, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang who defected yesterday from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, also stressed that the governor would be left alone.
“Yesterday in Jos, the Plateau State capital, I attended the formal reception rally of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), at the Jos Polo ground”, Akpabio said in a post event statement.
Congratulating and welcoming Governor Mutfwang into the ‘Progressives family’, Akpabio noted that the defection was very significant as the Plateau State Chief Executive was the last in the North-central states to lead his state into the APC.
“Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima GCON represented our President, Senator Bola Ahmed GCFR, at the landmark event. Members of the National Assembly were also in attendance.
“In my brief remarks at the event, I congratulated Gov Mutfwang for taking a very wise decision to join the family of the Progressives, thereby linking the state to the gravity of National politics. I assured the government and the good people of Plateau State that the issue of insecurity will soon be a thing of the past by the special grace of God. come to an end. We will support the state government to better the lives of the people. We will not leave you alone.
I noted that his defection was the last from states in the North Central geo- political zone into the party. All North Central States are now members of the Progressives family. This is significant. Government will do everything within its powers to protect Nigerians no matter their religious inclination and belief. We will support President Tinubu through approval of funds inorder to shut down, permanently, all IDP camps in the country”.
