*How Shari’a, killing of Christians started in Kano under Gov Kwankwaso
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was the Governor of Kano State when four hijack airplanes crashed in the United States, two of these planes hitting the World Trade Center twin tower in New York, one hit the Pentagon, and the last one which was believed to be heading towards the Capitol crashed landed before it got to its destination on 11th September 2001. Kano that deluded itself it was practising Sharia went berserk in celebration as CNN repeated showed as the two planes hit the twin towers bringing the once tallest buildings in the world crashing down. Kwankwaso was then the Shariah governor of Kano State.
On 8th & 9th October, 2001, barely a month after the celebration of terror attack on the United States, Muslims attacked Christians in Kano killing hundreds in protest over US attack on Afghanistan as it began its war on terror to get Osama bin Laden. When CNN reported hundreds were killed, Kwankwaso’s Kano State government tried to cover it up as just 16 dead.
Now, when you may have heard that Sani Yerima of Zamfara State was the first to introduce Shariah, Kano has always been its headquarters. The agitation of Shariah was more in Kano than anywhere in the north. It was so huge, Bayero university Kano quickly bought women buses to separate men from women. I was in BUK new site then. I believe some of my classmates are here on social media, or people who witnessed this.
Before the 8th October 2001 attack, as this agitation for Shariah was going on, fanatics were being mobilised here and there all around Kano to launch attack on Christians. In Shagari Quarters, houses where Christians do church activities were being targeted for attack. I believe Abdulrahman Abu Hamisu was there at that time.
In fact, all over Nigeria today, the Hisbah is operational in Kano more than any state, so much that after Ganduje was sacked as APC Chairman he went back to Kano to start his own private Shariah security outfit which was rejected by Kano State government. This is a man who was busted pocketing bribe money.
