According to a statement endorsed by LAWNA News Editor, Tunde Adebisi, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent, two fatalities have been confirmed to be members of the church convoy involved in the accident along Ore-Benin Expressway yesterday, Friday.
“There was a ghastly accident involving a convoy of the delegates to the inauguration of Asaba Area along Ore-Benin expressway road in about 8:00am on Friday, 12th Sept 2025.
Two fatalities, a pastor driving the bus and a security, are confirmed, as members in the Church’s convoy”, the statement noted.
It continues: “Others in the convoy who were injured including two principal officers, some Area Superintendents, support staff and media crew suffered fractures and are receiving treatment at an hospital in Ore.
Some others who escaped unhurt physically have undergone trauma treatment.
All the injured leaders and other staff are reported to be in stable condition.
The LAWMNA Territorial Chairman Pastor Dr S. G. O. Uyeh and his Vice Pastor D. O. Ajibade were not affected in the unfortunate incident, as they were not in the convoy. They were both shocked and traumatized by the incidents, disturbed over the casualties and are calling for the prayers of the saints for the injured.
“Efforts are being made to reach the families of those fatally affected, and we pray that the good Lord will comfort them and His Church in this sober moment.
The leadership of the Territory appreciates the concern that has been widely expressed from far and near by members in various categories and well wishers, through messages and calls.
“The leadership appeals for our continuous intercessory prayers for the speedy recovery and healing of the injured.
We pray that the Lord will put a stop to such unfortunate incidents like this in His Church.
For clarity purpose, you may have read in the media about the number of casualties. They could not have all been members of the Church’s convoy.
Reports confirm that there had been an accident at the same spot before a trailer rammed through the convoy. Those being counted might be those involved in the earlier accident. May the Lord hear our prayers. Thank you”.
