A leading candidate for Ikot Abasi/Mkpat Enin/Eastern Obolo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Engr. Ubong Idemudo, has promised fruitful engagement with investors within the constituency when elected.

The National Assembly hopeful who stated this while interacting with our Correspondent noted that such engagement would be highly pertinent to attract meaningful development to the area and create employment for the youths.

Idemudo, who is a renowned Oil and Gas Engineer with vast experience in both private and public sector development, said his representation would go beyond lawmaking to actively marketing the federal constituency to the outside world as an investment destination.

“One of the cardinal points of my representation will be robust engagements with investors within and outside the country with a view to attracting investments to my federal constituency. I’ll target massive job creation through fruitful engagement with investors within Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo that make up the Federal Constituency when elected” he said.

The NDC candidate stressed that such engagements would be highly pertinent to attract development to the area while also creating massive employments to the youths.

According to him, Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency is blessed with enormous human and natural resources, including a coastline, oil and gas deposits, palm produce and so forth, as well as a hardworking youthful population, but regretted that the area has not been able to attract the right investments to harness these potentials.

“When I am elected by the special grace of God and the resolve of my people, I will leverage on my contacts in engineering and the oil and gas sector within the global business circle, to bring investors to invest in areas such as industrialization, agriculture, maritime development, and tourism, which would in turn create jobs for the teeming youths”, the international oil and gas expert pledged.

Idemudo explained that useful engagements with investors would not only bring development but would also reduce youth restiveness, sea piracy, and other social vices that have bedeviled the coastal areas of Eastern Obolo and Ikot Abasi.

He stressed that his approach would be to provide legislative backing and enabling environment through motions, bills and direct facilitation that would make the constituency investor-friendly.

“Our constituency needs a voice that can speak to investors in the language they understand. We need to assure them of security, returns on investment, and government support. That is the kind of useful engagement I am promising,” he said.

The NDC chieftain also promised to work with traditional rulers, youth groups, women leaders and the state government to create a robust investment blueprint for the federal constituency.

He further assured constituents that his representation would be people-driven, transparent and focused on sustainable development, adding that regular town hall meetings with stakeholders, including the business community, would be institutionalized.

That’s Engr. Ubong Idemudo. We will vote for him in order to free ourselves from the shackles of backwardness and stagnation”.
