Newly-elected UniUyo Alumni Exco expresses gratitude, pledges commitment to service

The newly elected Executive Committee of the University of Uyo Alumni Association has extended heartfelt appreciation to members of the alumni community, following their victory in the recently concluded elections.

In a release signed by the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Thomas Thomas, the committee attributed their emergence to divine grace and commended the immediate past leadership, led by Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, for a seamless and transparent electoral process. “Your legacy is a strong foundation upon which we shall build,” the letter stated.

The Electoral Committee chaired by Dr. Odumayak Okpo also received accolades for conducting what the new executives described as a free, fair, and credible election that has reinforced democratic values within the association.

The release further appreciated the University’s Management, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, for its consistent support of alumni engagement and collaborative efforts aimed at institutional development.

Commendation was also extended to fellow contestants—Prof. Aniekan Brown, Dr. Samuel Gregory Effiong, and Dr. Sunday Umana-Tusi—for their courage and contribution to the democratic exercise. “Not winning does not diminish your value or capability… The future holds even greater opportunities,” the letter affirmed.

In a sober reflection, the new executives reminded themselves and supporters that the victory is a call to service, not a celebration of power. “To whom much is given, much indeed is expected,” it read.

The committee pledged transparency, humility, and dedication as they prepare to steer the association into its next chapter, calling on all alumni to join hands for the progress of the University of Uyo and the strengthening of alumni ties.
