…issues directive on ‘Eno-mber’, ekpo masquerade, contractors

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D, has commended the member representing Urueoffong/Oruko State Constituency in the state House of Assembly; Rt. Hon Precious Selong for embodying the strength of a modern African woman.
The governor who dropped the commendation in a statement was lauding the former Council boss for balancing public leadership with grace and honour.
“I joined the Selong family and the Christian community to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. I commended Rt. Hon. Precious Selong for embodying the strength of a modern African woman, balancing public leadership and family life with grace and honour”, Gov Eno said.
While reaffirming his commitment to a peaceful and united Akwa Ibom State, the governor also used the medium to announce his directive to the Accountant-General of the state to ensure the payment of the 13th Month salary codenamed ‘Eno-mber’ to workers in the state.
“I reaffirmed our commitment to a peaceful, united Akwa Ibom. As we enter the Christmas season, I directed the Accountant General to pay the 13th-month Eno-mber salary before Christmas, so our workers can celebrate the Yuletide with more joy and happiness”.
On his earlier marching order to contractors handling projects across the state as well as ban on ekpo masquerade, Gov Umo Eno continued: “I also issued a clear marching order to all contractors to return to site immediately, now that the dry season has set in, so ongoing projects can move at full speed.
Masquerade activities that harass or extort citizens will not be permitted anywhere in our communities. We will continue to maintain peace, support families, and serve our people transparently and conscientiously”.
Before being elected into the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Precious Selong had served as the Chairman of the Urue-Offong/Oruko local government area.
She won the title of LGA Chairman of the Year during her time in office.
Precious Selong is known for her exceptional leadership and has been recognized for her commitment to her constituents.
She’s also known for balancing her marital responsibilities with her political career, which has earned her praise from Governor Umo Eno.
