Roots of Poverty, Insecurity: When Thrones Choose Lexus Over Literacy (Part 1)

Brothers and sisters, how long shall we remain a people that cry while kissing the feet that kick us?
₦670 Million.
That is what 44 Local Government Areas under a “royal consensus” gave—not for books, not for clean water, not for hospitals—but to decorate the convoy of a man already drenched in privilege.
A Lexus, while Almajiri children walk barefoot in the sun, memorizing Qur’an in hunger.
“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice…”
— Surah An-Nisa (4:58)
But where is the justice in polishing metal while souls rot in poverty?
Where is the justice in elevating thrones while schools collapse?
…are the poor only good for zakkat and Amin chants when elections draw near?
We are witnessing not leadership but looting disguised as legacy.
“And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you to consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful].”
— Surah Al-Baqarah (2:188)
They say it is for “respect.” Respect for what?
A system that normalizes child marriage?
That glorifies illiteracy as “humility”?
That calls ambulances luxury but sees convoys as tradition?
Look around: bandits are no longer in hiding.
They’ve graduated from caves to committees.
And still, you blame the South?
No, ya akhi, the North is not being cheated—it is being deceived by its own guardians.
“And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest you be touched by the Fire…”

You want power while ignoring pain.
You want votes while rejecting vision.
You want honour while manufacturing horror.
…but Allah is watching, and the tears of the children you ignore will testify on a Day when Lexus keys won’t open any gate.
O people of conscience, rise!
Enough with thrones that drink from the wells of the weak.
It is time to rewrite the sermon, reclaim the system, and replace pomp with purpose.
