President of the Senate, His Excellency, Distinguished Sen Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, has lauded the governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for according to him, taking the state to the centre.
Gov Umo Eno who defected recently from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, was today Saturday, received into his new party by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The event held at the main bowl of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, had the Vice President, His Excellency, Sen Kashim Shettima, GCON, representing President Tinubu.
In his post event release, the Senate President restated that the Akwa Ibom governor would not regret his action, describing President Tinubu as a forthright leader that kept his words.
Akpabio said “Today, I joined President Bola Tinubu GCFR, who was represented by Vice president, Kashim Shettima GCON, to formally receive my Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, into the APC family.
The ceremony was witnessed by the National Chairman of our party; Dr Umar Ganduje, members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, members of the National Assembly and chieftains and leaders of our great party, inside the main bowl of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
I thanked our governor for taking the bold step of linking the state to the centre in the overall interest of our people. I assured him that he, and by extension the state, will not regret his action because the APC led Federal Government under President Tinubu is a forthright one that keeps to its words”
