‘…he confessed to being sent by ‘yahoo associates'” -Eyewitness
A man was caught today at Ndiya in Nsit Ubium local government area of Akwa Ibom State while attempting to kidnap two babies.
According to eyewitness’ account, the suspect reportedly barged into a compound with the intent to steal the children. Fortunately for the babies, their mother heard their cries, rushed in, and raised an alarm. The alerted neighbors who trooped out, rounded up the child thief.
Upon being apprehended, the suspect confessed that he was sent by a group of internet fraudsters known as “Yahoo associates” to steal the babies for ritual purpose.
Our Correspondent gathered that there have been cases of child snatching, child theft and/or kidnap in recent years in Nsit Ubium LGA.
Efforts to speak to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Akwa Ibom State Command, DSP Timfon John on the incident were unsuccessful as her known telephone number was not reachable when our correspondent put calls across.
