Amidst heightened tension following intensed attacks between Iran and Israel, the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and its strike group are now moving toward the Middle East, joining the USS Carl Vinson and the UK’s HMS Prince of Wales, according to media reports.
If confirmed, that places three powerful aircraft carriers within striking distance of Iran’s shores. This has been recorded as a clear signal that the West is preparing for whatever comes next.
According to records, the USS Nimitz (CVN-68) is an aircraft carrier of the United States Navy, and the lead ship of her class.
Being one of the largest warships in the world, she was laid down, launched, and commissioned as CVAN-68, “aircraft carrier, attack, nuclear powered”, but was later redesignated as CVN-68, “aircraft carrier, multi-mission, nuclear-powered”, on 30 June 1975, as part of a fleet-wide realignment that year.
Recall that there have been series of missiles attacks between Iran and Israel, targeting strategic government-owned facilities, while lives have been reportedly lost and others, injured.
