Three killed in fresh attack on Riyom community, as troops intensify operations.
Three persons were reportedly killed in a late-night attack by suspected armed militia on Gwa Rim village in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on May 8 when troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) responded to distress calls following sporadic gunfire in the area.
On arrival, troops found three residents—Alpha David, Matthew Solomon, and Timothy Dachung—already killed, while the attackers fled on sighting the advancing security personnel.
Reports have that troops immediately secured the area and launched pursuit operations to track the fleeing suspects and prevent further violence.
Security has been reinforced across vulnerable communities in Riyom as efforts continue to contain reprisal attacks linked to ongoing communal tensions in Plateau State.
