…sympathizes with bereaved family
By our correspondent
The leader of Opposition Coalition in Akwa Ibom State; Obong (Dr) Uduakobong Udoh has condoled with one of the core members of the Coalition in Etinan local government area, Mr. Kufre Etukudo and his entire family over the painful demise of their dearly beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and uncle.
Late Elder Ufot Jackson Etuk who was interred yesterday at his Ikot Etekpo country home, was father to Mr Kufre who doubles as the Etinan Chapter Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC) and a socio-political organization known as Democratic Freedom Front, DFF.
Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the funeral, Obong Uduak Udoh who was the gubernatorial standard bearer of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State, charged christians to remain hopeful even in the face of demise of a loved one.
“I came here along with my entourage to join in paying last respect to Late Elder Ufot Jackson Etuk who was father to one of our dedicated members, Kufre Etukudo”, the Uyo-born youthful politician noted while fielding questions from newsmen.
He continued: “My advice to Kufre and the entire bereaved family is to remain hopeful as instructed in the holy scriptures. The Bible admonishes us not to mourn as those without hope as according to the scriptures, those who died in the Lord shall rise again on the last day and never again to depart.
Another key area we should apply hope is in the area of leadership. We must have hope that the bad leaders we have today, soon, we shall see them no more. That’s why we, the coalition are working hard to mobilize the citizenry with a view to ensuring the enthronement of people-oriented leadership, come 2027, at the state and national levels so that our hospitals and other social amenities would be fixed to enable people live their lives to the fullest, and not dying untimely.
So, on behalf of the leadership and the entire Opposition Coalition family in Akwa Ibom State, I sympathize with him and his family on this irreplaceable loss. While I pray God to grant them the fortitude to whither the storm occasioned by this loss, I also pray that the Almighty God accept the soul of the departed for eternal repose”.
The Opposition Coalition leader also urged Akwa Ibomites to emulate the deceased whom he described as a man of service.
“One striking thing that the biography and the tributes in honour of the deceased point to, is his life of service. Records show that Late Elder Ufot Jackson was a professional nurse who was dedicated to service to humanity.
He used his profession to serve. And the result showed in the standard of life he lived which could be further gleaned from the standard of the befitting funeral accorded him today. So, I wish to call on all Akwa Ibomites to inculcate the habit of service in whatever positions of authority they find themselves so that at the end of their lives on earth, their lives of service would count”, Obong Uduakobong admonished.
On the entourage of the Coalition leader were the National Chairman of DFF; Mr. Ikakke Bassey, BoT Secretary; Mrs. Martina Umana and BoT member; Mr. King Akpabio who also doubles as Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the Big Tent.
Others were the DFF Deputy State Chairman, Akwa Ibom Northeast (Uyo) Senatorial District; Obong Unwana Isaiah, None-Indigene Coordinator; Mr Ikenna and a host of others.
Late Elder Ufot Jackson who died at 66, was survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, sister, and a host of others.
