According to Kate “I got married in 1999. In 2000, we had a beautiful daughter. But by 2011, I had nothing left to give to a marriage that gave me nothing back.
He was always with other women, coming home late, making noise, breaking things. And when I tried to talk, he made me feel small — shouting, throwing things, turning the whole house into a war zone”.
The screen goddess however explained that in an effort to persevere, she held on for “too long”, adding also that her peace was more important than pretense.
“I held on for too long. But I knew I had to leave to live. My peace was more important than pretending everything was fine.
Leaving wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. I needed to heal, to grow, to breathe without fear. I poured my soul into my work, my body, my dreams.
Divorce didn’t break me. It helped me find myself again. And I’ve never looked back”
