Why I prophesy for prominent Nigerians – Prophet Ekong Ituen reveals

…says prophecy is “Irrespective of Political parties or religion”

By our correspondent

Renowned cleric, His Grace, Prophet Ekong Ituen, has addressed criticism over his frequent prophecies about Nigeria’s political elite, insisting his target is visibility, not status or wealth.

Known for a string of high-profile predictions in Nigeria’s political space, Prophet Ituen said the reason he often names prominent Nigerians and public figures in his prophecies is simple: public recognition makes the message verifiable.

When asked if his prophecies are for prominent Nigerians alone, Prophet Ituen responded, “This is absolutely untrue. Let me clarify that the primary reason I give prophecies to politicians and prominent Nigerians is not because of their fame or wealth, but because they are known to the public and easily identifiable whenever their names are mentioned.”

The cleric, who is the Founder and Spiritual Leader of Christ Deliverance Ministries, CDM, Lagos, stressed that his work extends far beyond the corridors of power. According to him, ordinary Nigerians form the bulk of those he ministers to daily.

“I also make sure that the gift of prophecy in me benefits the masses and poor Nigerians who seeks my help. For instance, in my Ministry if I mention the names of those I minister to nobody will know. It’s not limited to the prominent individuals alone”.

“I am neutral and a spiritual father to all”

Amid Nigeria’s heated political climate, Prophet Ituen emphasized his neutrality. He said he has no ties to any party and views his role as a messenger rather than a partisan actor.

“I have no party affiliation. I am neutral and a spiritual father to all. I prophesy what I see in the spiritual realm irrespective of political parties or religion.

As a messenger of God Almighty, my responsibility is to convey messages from God to Humanity and Nations, to bless and ensure the well-being of my spiritual children globally”.

The prophet explained that prophecy is just one aspect of his spiritual calling, even though it draws the most public attention. He noted that other gifts are also “deposited in me by God,” but prophecy often dominates headlines because of its immediate social impact.

Regarding why he manifests more on prophecy than other known spiritual gifts, Prophet Ituen explained, “It is just one of the many gifts deposited in me by God”

Pushback on “political prophet” label

Prophet Ituen also pushed back against the notion that his ministry is fixated on politics. He argued that his records show predictions across security, social, and national issues that later came to pass.

He disagreed with the notion that he focuses more on political prophecies, stating, ‘This is not true because, over the years, I have, by the special grace of God, predicted many events outside the political environment that have come to pass. If you review the records, you will confirm the accuracy of my statements’.

To support that claim, he cited media reports of his earlier warnings on insecurity in the country.

For instance, in the area of insecurity, as published in -Daily Sun-July 27, 2011, Sunday Independent- July 3, 2011, and Saturday Vanguard-March 19, 2011, refers.

Over the years, Prophet Ituen has remained an influential voice in Nigeria’s religious landscape. Supporters credit him with timely warnings that helped avert disaster, while critics question the timing and tone of some political prophecies.

For his part, the prophet says his mandate is clear and nonpartisan. He positions himself as “a spiritual father to all” whose duty is to deliver divine messages regardless of who is involved.

With Nigeria heading into another cycle of political activity, Prophet Ituen says he will continue to speak as led, maintaining that the goal is the “well-being of my spiritual children globally” and not endorsement of any political camp.
