Why Portable was sentenced to three months imprisonment

 

But for the N30,000 option of fine he got , musician Badmus Habeeb Okikiola, popularly
known as Portable ,would have started a prison term of three months in one of the Correctional Centres in Ogun State.
The controversial musician was found guilty by a Magistrate Court in Ifo, Ogun State, on Tuesday, April 29 for resisting arrest , obstructing State officials from carrying out their lawful duties and assaulting them at his Odogwu Bar, Oke-Osa, Ogun State some months back.

He was subsequently convicted on two of the three count charges and sentenced to three months Imprisonment.
However the N30,000 option of fine granted him by the magistrate saved him from going to prison. The fine was paid and he was released.
But then he will now live with the toga of ex-convict.

The Two Charges :
“That you, Badmus Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, and others now at large, on the 18th day of November 2022 at 11:00 hrs, in Okeosa, Ilogbo, within the Ifo Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit: assault, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 517 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State 2006.

“That you, Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned district, did unlawfully assault one Osimosu Emmanuel Oluwafemi (male) by beating him all over his body, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 351 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria 2006.
