Founder and Spiritual Leader of Christ Deliverance Ministries, Lagos; Prophet Ekong Ituen has advised former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) not to be tempted to contest the 2027 presidential election to avoid being messed up.
His Excellency, Goodluck Jonathan who emerged as Nigerian President in 2010 following the death of President Umaru Musa Yar’dua, was Deputy to the now late former Bayelsa state governor, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha . Jonathan had become governor of Bayelsa state after Chief Alamieyeseigha was impeached on the heels of his detention in the United Kingdom following his money laundering case.
In 2007, he was Vice Presidential Candidate of then ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, deputizing late Yar’dua. PDP won the presidential election and Jonathan was sworn in along with President Yar’dua.
In 2015, GEJ who was PDP presidential candidate lost his reelection bid to the candidate of then newly-formed All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd). The current Nigerian President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who was instrumental to the APC merger, was the national leader.
As the build up to the 2027 presidential election continues to gather momentum, there have reported calls on the former President Goodluck Jonathan to join the race.
Reacting to the ‘speculation’, Prophet Ituen in a statement urged Jonathan to ignore those he described as sycophants in order to preserve his honour.
According to the fierce Prophet: “Former President Goodluck Jonathan should not be tempted to contest the 2027 presidential election, as being speculated in some quarters, because he will not win. He will be messed up and embarrassed. I urge him to ignore sycophants and preserve his honour”.
Prophet Ituen is a renowned christian cleric known for his many prophetic declarations on various national and global issues which came to fulfilment.
